“PERSONAL LEADERSHIP BRAND

what do people see, when they observe you!

By building your ‘Personal Leadership Brand’, you are setting yourself up, to become a next generation leader?" What is PLB, you ask?

Its like your personal resume, THAT portrays ‘YOU’ as a Leader!

Principally, it is the collective sum of a leaders Talent (Foundation), Experience (Pillars), and Image (Perceptionthat is combined and packaged, to give the Leader a unique 'Personal Leadership Brand

If you think Branding doesn't work, try receiving an endorsement from Warren Buffet or Jack Welch, They each have a Personal Leadership Brand

NOW, Every Leader is driven by three key objectives – develop and motivate employees, build rapport with customers and generate high returns for shareholders.

To gain trust, credibility and influence with people, requires people like you, and trust you. This is impacted by the way they see you (Perception) and how you assert your influence  (Image).

You may want to also consider your future career goals, and how to prepare for it.

Here are some insights I would like to share with you, regarding your Personal Leadership Brand.

  • SOCIAL MEDIA – Alarming statistics reveal, a large number of people amass tens of thousands of twitter and Facebook post, to talk about a coffee they had with a friend, or what they’re expecting for Christmas. Consider for a moment, every contact is a potential client, recruiter, or someone who can assist you to get further along in your career. Therefore use Social Media to build a reputation, and enhance your personal profile.
  • TIME MANAGEMENT and GOAL SETTING - if you want to work smarter, as oppose to longer each day, try to plan your day - ahead of time. Good Time management will help you budget usefully, for what is important (meetings, phone calls, appointments), over what is urgent! Also set goals that are specific, measurable, achievable, realistic, and timely (SMART).
  • DRESS THE PART – You’ve heard it said, “Perception and image is key”. Do you dress like a Leader? It is very much like a car that has all the mod cons attached to it, but doesn’t look attractive. If you want the part, start to look it.
  • COMMUNICATION - As a leader, you will be Communicating with people on many levels. Brushing up on your Communication and Presentation skills will add value to your leadership. John C Maxwell states, “everyone communicates, but few connect”. As a Leader, connecting with people is incredibly essential, and will ensure that you get people, more easily, on your side. Use word pictures for illustrations and keep your words simple. Use sentences that are short, laser focused, and persuasive. Resist - talking over people and start talking to them. Always have a focused goal, behind your discussion, so that your communication or business meeting agenda has a purpose. Keep in mind, ‘what’s loose is lost’
  • ATTITUDE - I once was asked, “What’s the one thing that leaders must change - to guarantee the success of the Organisation?” my reply, ATTITUDE! While some leaders have reached their limit in their career. Talent and skill is not a challenge for their success anymore, instead choice and attitude is! Having a great attitude will certainly make people like you, support your efforts and help you achieve your goals. It is worth considering, ‘attitudes don’t just happen we choose them’. So make a decision today, to have the right attitude!
